The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization that depends entirely on the generosity of the public to provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. To donate to your local chapter, click here.
We are not a government agency and do not receive support from the federal or state government.
Contributions to the Millburn-Short Hills Chapter are used to support local Red Cross programs and services, except for a portion of our budget which is sent to the National American Red Cross to help fund course development, national disasters, the blood services program and other nationally-managed services which support this and every chapter.
The Millburn-Short Hills Chapter relies solely on community support and receives no funding from the national Red Cross. Without your support, we cannot survive.
Unrestricted, unspecified gifts provide us the most flexibility, but you may designate your gift for special purposes or a specific disaster and we will honor your request 100%.
Additional Donation Options
1. Planned Giving
Some people choose to leave a specific dollar amount or asset via a will designation, while others give a percentage of the remainder of their estate. There are also planned gift vehicles that will allow you to make a contribution that will provide income for life for you and/or a loved one.
2. Donating Stocks and Securities
If you own stocks, bonds or mutual funds that have appreciated in value, you have a unique opportunity to realize extra tax savings by making an outright gift to the Millburn-Short Hills Chapter of the American Red Cross.
3. In-Kind Gifts
Financial donations are the best way to assist the American Red Cross. However, the Red Cross will sometimes accept bulk donations of products that are immediately needed for an ongoing disaster relief operation.
4. Donating a Vehicle or other Property
You may donate your used car, truck, R.V., motorcycle, boat or construction equipment to the Millburn-Short Hills Chapter of the American Red Cross. Your gift is tax-deductible and may be picked up at your home or office.
5. Clothing Donations
We will gladly accept donations of gently used clothing. Simply drop off your donation in one of the bins behind our Chapter house, located at 389 Millburn Avenue in Millburn.
The Red Cross has neither the resources nor the logistical systems to process these donations for distribution. However, financial proceeds from clothing donations will go directly to our Chapter to support local disaster relief services.
6. Food Pantry Items
The Millburn-Shorthills Chapter provides food from its pantry to township residents in need. Donations are always needed, especially after the holidays and in the spring and summer months.
Unexpired canned goods, pasta, peanut butter, cereal, tuna, coffee and paper products are particularly good items to donate.
Donations can be dropped off at Town Hall in the Customer Service area or at the Red Cross chapter at 389 Millburn Avenue.
