How to Donate
Walk-ins are welcome for blood drives, or appointments may be made by calling 1-800-GIVE LIFE (1-800-448-3543), by calling the local chapter at 973-379-4198, or by visiting www.pleasegiveblood.org.
Appointments are required for platelet drives and must be made at least 72 hours in advance. Please call 1-800-GIVE LIFE (1-800-448-3543) to make an appointment.
Anyone who is at least 17 years of age and weighs 110 pounds or more is eligible to donate blood every 56 days.

Appointments to either donate on December 5th may be obtained by calling the local Red Cross Chapter at 973-379-4198 or the Penn-Jersey region of the Red Cross at 800-448-3543.  In addition, donors can log on to the Chapter’s website at millburn-shorthills.redcross.org.  Appointments are not required at the March 28th blood drive, but they can speed the process. Appointments are required when you donate platelets.

Blood donors must be in good general health and weigh at least 110 pounds.  They must know their Social Security number and bring signed or picture identification showing that they are at least 17 years old. Travel restriction may apply.  For more information about donating whole blood or platelets, call the Red Cross at one of the number listed above.

“Our summer blood drives ended on the most perfect day of the summer” said blood drive co-chair Jack Clemence, “and even two of our chairpersons are on vacation.”  The Millburn Red Cross blood drive, held at the Millburn Library on Aug. 21, 2010 attracted 63 donors even with the library being closed on Saturdays during the month of August.

April High School Blood Drive

April 10th Blood Drive

Sixty-five people volunteered to give blood at the Red Cross drive held at the Millburn Free Public Library on Sat. April 10.  The next Red Cross community drive will be held at the library on Sat. May 1. There will be a Red Cross drive at Millburn High School on Thurs. April 22, but that drive is limited to students and staff.
